Question 1

What is Our Block?

Accepted Answer

Our Block is a free, private neighborhood communication app connecting verified neighbors on the same residential block. Residents can share updates, ask questions, organize events, request help, and support local businesses in a trusted neighborhood community.

Question 2

How does Our Block work?

Accepted Answer

You download the app, verify your address, and join the block you live on. Once you're in, you see updates from the neighbors right around you — not the whole city — and can post questions, plan get-togethers, and swap recommendations.

Question 3

Is Our Block free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Our Block is free for residents to join. Local business listings and sponsorships support the platform.

Question 4

How do I connect with neighbors on my street?

Accepted Answer

Download Our Block, verify your address, and you'll be connected to your block. From there you can say hello, reply to neighbors' posts, and invite neighbors who haven't joined yet.

Question 5

How does Our Block verify neighbors?

Accepted Answer

Our Block uses an address check to confirm that members live on the block they join. Members use real names tied to real homes, and there are no anonymous accounts.

Question 6

What makes Our Block different from Nextdoor?

Accepted Answer

Our Block is built around block-level communication: you mainly see updates from the verified neighbors on your own block rather than a whole city or large area. The focus is on everyday coordination between people who live next to each other, without engagement-driven feeds.

Question 7

Can I use Our Block without social media accounts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our Block is its own app, so you don't need a social media account or membership in a social media group to join your block.

Question 8

What is a Block Leader?

Accepted Answer

A Block Leader is a resident who helps welcome and connect neighbors on their block. Block Leaders keep the confidentiality of resident information and don't replace an HOA board, management team, or official channels.

Question 9

How do I become a Block Leader?

Accepted Answer

Email sarah@joinourblock.com and tell us which block you live on, and we'll share the next steps for your block.

Question 10

How can I invite neighbors to Our Block?

Accepted Answer

Share the App Store link with neighbors on your block and let them know it's where your street is connecting. Each neighbor verifies their own address when they join.

Question 11

Can I organize a block party using Our Block?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use Our Block to plan BBQs, yard sales, holiday lights, and other get-togethers with the neighbors on your block.

Question 12

Can neighbors share important neighborhood alerts?

Accepted Answer

Neighbors can share helpful local updates, like a lost pet or road work, but Our Block is not an emergency service. Always contact 911 or official emergency channels for urgent situations, because Our Block does not guarantee message delivery.

Question 13

Is Our Block available in my neighborhood?

Accepted Answer

Our Block is rolling out block by block, starting in Texas, with the Park Cities launch on October 1, 2026. Download the app to see whether your block is available.

Question 14

How can local businesses join Our Block?

Accepted Answer

Local businesses can apply for a Directory Listing for $150 per year, or apply to become a Founding Business. Directory Listings begin with your business details, followed by payment.

Question 15

How does Our Block protect neighborhood privacy?

Accepted Answer

Our Block is private to verified members, and our Privacy Policy says personal data is not sold. Advertisers receive aggregate, anonymous reporting rather than individual resident contact lists.
